SIFE is currently working closely with Strathcona Business Improvement Association (SBIA) to help them with their strategic plans and goals. The Strathcona BIA is looking to brand and market the area as a safe, green, and sustainable place to live. The project has three focus areas:
1. Marketing: This area focuses on helping the SBIA improve their image and brand to have SBIA labelled at a “Green Zone”. We are developing a Business Information Package to attract new businesses and property owners to Strathcona. We are also creating a Marketing Plan to let everyone know about Strathcona BIA's initiatives, plans, and goals. Later, we will be running a Marketing Campaign to promote a Recycling Challenge on Earth Day (April 22nd), and the Sustainability Expo 3.0 on May 2nd.
2. Sustainability Consulting: This area focuses with partnering up with existing organizations in Strathcona to help businesses reduce their energy usage and waste disposal and in turn, save money. We are implementing a Group Composting system to reduce organic waste as well as a Materials Exchange to divert would-be waste among businesses and organizations in the area.
3. Crime Prevention: This area focuses on performing research on innovative methods for reducing crime, compiling our research and recommendations in a proposal format, and finding ways to implement our findings.
